danny and chris got married on a beautiful summer day in mid july at a pittsburgh favorite, over eden. they envisioned photographs that were a tasteful mix of my editorial style with a candid feel— images that felt elevated and cinematic while still preserving the emotions of their families and friends gathering together for such a meaningful moment in time.

danny and chris  grew up in the same pittsburgh neighborhood, just a few houses down from one another. on the morning of their wedding day, they each got ready inside their childhood homes surrounded by the people who had known and loved them long before this version of their life together began. they exchanged vows inside their local chapel before carrying the celebration into the city for their reception at a rooftop venue in lawrenceville that overlooks the city skyline. 

pittsburgh clearly holds a close place in danny and chris’s hearts– their families are here, their history, their roots.. but over the years, they’ve also built a beautiful life together in colorado. & with that, their wedding celebration didn’t end in pittsburgh.

two months later, the celebration continued again in steamboat springs surrounded by mountains, music, and an entirely different kind of atmosphere.
this celebration was held at the boathouse, a modern venue overlooking the mountains. as guests arrived into town, they met in cowboy cocktail attire for the welcome party, enjoyed time at strawberry hot springs, listened to the sounds of the live bands playing their favorite music, and toasted to forever. every location, every gathering, every detail felt emotionally connected to who they actually are. 

both the pittsburgh and colorado celebrations were captured on digital media, 35mm film, and super 8, which felt especially fitting for the atmosphere surrounding the weekend.. 

while I could probably talk about danny and chris forever, I think the photographs themselves ultimately say far more than I ever could.

danny and chris, thank you for trusting me to come along and capture such beautiful moments in time for you two. getting to be around your family and friends made me feel a way of being right at home that i’ve never felt before, and the warmth surrounding both celebrations is something I’ll carry with me for a very long time. I wish you both all the love from pittsburgh to colorado, and wherever else it may take you next.
